Calgary Bull Sale Contributors - Important Changes

For 2012, we ask Contributors to note the following changes and updates from previous years. We ask that you check this page often as we make changes to it.

  • A first time ever in the history of the Calgary Bull sale on offer will be pens of 5 commercial replacement heifers. These heifers will be judged and sold on Wednesday February 29th following the bull shows. Sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health
  • All breeds of purebred bulls are eligible to enter
  • Out of province bull entries are accepted
  • Entries close on Friday, December 9, 2011
  • Substitutions close February 17, 2012 
  • Sale commission is 9% of the last dollar bid 
  • Bulls need to be in the barn on Monday, February 27 by 4:00 pm
  • All bulls will be weighed on Monday, February 27. There is only one weigh day
  • All shows and sales will be held in the Pavilion.  Demonstrations will be held in the Big Top
  • Sellers and buyers must coordinate all necessary transportation arrangements and let the settlement office know
  • Alberta Cattle Breeders’ Association is an Agent Only: It is to be clearly understood that the Alberta Cattle Breeders’ Association is only acting as a medium between the buyer and seller.  The Alberta Cattle Breeders’ Association is not in any way responsible for failure on the part of either party to live up to their obligations, neither does the Alberta Cattle Breeders’ Association assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of monies between parties, and any legal action taken in exceptional cases, must be between the buyer and seller.
  • Reminder – Be sure your insurance policy covers liability for off farm events. 

RIBEYE, MARBLE AND BACKFAT SCAN

Yearling bulls will be ribeye, marble and backfat scanned and measurements posted. 2 year old bulls will be backfat scanned and posted. This process will be done at the weigh scale during the weigh in and vet inspection

RELEASE OF BULLS
  Sellers are prohibited to teardown or load out bulls until all Breed Sales are completed . No bulls may be removed from the sale premises without a release slip, which must be presented to designated staff upon release.
